Cricket's Core plan is the carrier's less expensive unlimited data plan. This plan's speeds are slightly slower, but you'll still be able to enjoy unlimited data, minutes, and messages. You can save even more by signing up for AutoPay.
This plan is compatible with many of the great add-ons Cricket Wireless currently offers. Upon signing up for the Core plan, you can get a free trial of Deezer, Cricket's music streaming service. There are millions of songs in their catalog!
10 GB of mobile hotspot can also be added on for an additional monthly fee. Mobile hotspot speeds will be exactly the same as the speed of your cellular data. Other Cricekt Wireless add-ons include international calling and texting as well as Cricket Protect, the carrier's phone insurance program.
The Cricket Wireless Core plan includes unlimited minutes, messages, and cellular data.
The speed of cellular data on the Core plan is 3 Mbps, which is slower than 4G LTE. After you've used 22 GB, your data speeds may slowed even further. Videos will stream at DVD quality.
The Cricket Wireless Core plan has no annual contract or hidden fees!
Cricket Wireless doesn't charge overages to customers on the Core plan.
This plan includes unlimited texting and calling to and from Mexico and Canada. Your use of minutes, messages, and data in Canada can't exceed 50% of your total usage. You can add additional international features to your Core plan for a low monthly fee.
You can purchase 10 GB of mobile hotspot as an add-on for your Cricket Wireless Core plan.
Cricket Wireless was founded in 1999 by its parent company Leap Wireless. Cricket Wireless is mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) that provides service using AT&T’s wireless network. In fact, AT&T purchased Leap Wireless (and Cricket Wireless) in 2014!
Cricket Wireless cell phone plans don’t have yearly contracts, so you’ll never be locked into a plan that you don’t like. There are plenty of different types of plans, including various amounts of 4G LTE data. You can also add on great features like mobile hotspot and Cricket Protect.
Cricket Protect is a great insurance plan if you are going to purchase an iPhone. The big difference between Cricket Protect an AppleCare+ is that Cricket Protect actually covers your iPhone is the event of accidental water damage — AppleCare+ doesn’t do the same!
If you’re not interested in buying a new iPhone from Cricket, that’s okay! They also have the latest Androids including the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+. Or, if you already have a phone, you might be able to bring it along with you when you sign up with Cricket Wireless. As long as your phone is GSM unlocked, you can probably keep it when you switch to Cricket — all you’ll need is a new SIM card!
