My Google Pixel Has No Service! Here’s The Fix.

Your Google Pixel has no service and you don't know what to do. No matter what you try, your phone still has no bars. In this article, I'll explain how to fix the problem when there's no service on your Google Pixel!

Why Does My Google Pixel Say No Service?

There are several different reasons why your Google Pixel might have no service. It could be an issue with your Pixel's software or hardware, or an issue with your wireless carrier's network.

Unless you've recently dropped your Google Pixel on a hard surface or exposed it to liquids, it's very unlikely you're dealing with a hardware issue. Before diving into the troubleshooting guide below, we recommend making sure your carrier has coverage in the area where you're not getting service.

If your Google Pixel should have service, follow the step-by-step guide below.

Turn Airplane Mode On & Off Again

Turning Airplane Mode on and then off again gives your Google Pixel another chance to connect to your cell phone carrier's wireless network. Sometimes that's all it takes to fix the problem when your Google Pixel has no service!

Open Settings and tap Network & Internet. Tap the switch next to Airplane Mode to turn it on. Wait a few seconds, then tap the switch again to turn off Airplane Mode.

Restart Your Google Pixel

Turning your Google Pixel off and back on again can often fix minor software issues. If you have Pixel 6 or newer, simultaneously press and hold the Volume Up and Power buttons until the Restart button appears on the screen. Then, tap the Restart button.

If you have a Pixel 5a or older, press and hold the power button until your Google Pixel restarts. This can take as long as 30 seconds, so be patient!

Update Your Google Pixel

Updating your Google Pixel can sometimes fix no service issues. Some Pixel updates include modem updates, which can sometimes improve your phone's connection to your carrier's network. Updates can also fix software problems that could be causing the no service problem on your Google Pixel.

Open Settings and tap System. Tap System Update to see if a software update is available. If an update is available, install it on your Google Pixel.

On some Pixel phones, you may not see available updates automatically. Try tapping Check For System Updates if you run into this problem.

Eject And Reinsert Your SIM Card

Your Google Pixel's SIM card stores a lot of data that helps your wireless carrier identify your phone from the other phones on their network. Ejecting and reinserting the SIM card will reestablish your Pixel's connection to your carrier's network, which may fix the no service issue on your Android.

Grab a SIM card ejector tool or a straightened out paperclip. Press the tool or paperclip into the hole in the SIM tray to open it. You'll know the SIM card has been ejected when your Pixel says No SIM Card. Push the SIM tray back into your Google Pixel to reseat the SIM card.

Reset Network Settings

Resetting the network settings on your Google Pixel erases all of its Wi-Fi, Mobile, Bluetooth, and VPN settings and restores them to factory defaults. You may want to write down your Wi-Fi passwords before completing this step because you'll have to reenter them when the reset is complete.

It can be extremely difficult to track down deep software problems on your Google Pixel. Instead, we'll reset all the Mobile settings on your phone, which can sometimes fix the no service problem.

Open Settings on your Google Pixel and tap System -> Advanced -> Reset Options. Then, tap Reset Wi-Fi, Mobile & Bluetooth. Enter your passcode if prompted, then confirm the reset.

Contact Your Wireless Carrier

If your Google Pixel still has no service, it's time to reach out to your wireless carrier. There may be an issue with your account only a customer service representative can resolve.

Google the name of your carrier's customer support number to get in touch with a representative. Carriers are often very responsive when you reach out to their support accounts on Twitter, too!

Get Your Pixel Repaired

As we mentioned earlier, it's extremely likely your Google Pixel has no service because of a hardware issue. However, if you've completed all of the steps above and nothing has worked, it's time to reach out to Google about a repair. You can mail your Pixel to Google, or get in-person support from an authorized service provider.
