Backup Your Google Pixel 3

Before continuing with your repair attempts, you'll want to backup your Google Pixel 3 externally. When a smartphone's experiencing a hardware or software glitch, you never know when the problem's going to get worse. Backing up while you can will ensure that you don't lose any of your personal data should your phone crash completely.

All Google Pixel phone comes with an automatic backup setting that, when enabled, uploads your contacts, photos, videos, messages and other personal data directly to your Google account. To see if this feature's currently working on your phone, open Settings, tap System and select Backup. If your phone runs out of battery during the restore or isn't connected to a wireless network when the restore's complete, you won't be able to log back into your Google account afterwards.

Open Settings once your device is plugged in and connected. Select System, then Advanced followed by Reset options. Tap Erase all data (factory reset), followed by Reset phone. If prompted, enter your password, security pattern or PIN.
