You're trying to download or stream something on your cell phone, but it seems that your WiFi connection's not working. Without internet access, it's easy for a smartphone to blow through your monthly data allotment before you even realize it. In this article, I'll show you all the fixes for when your Google Pixel 5 won't connect to WiFi.

Is It My Pixel Or My WiFi?

It's possible that the problem your Pixel 5's experiencing actually has to do with your WiFi router, and not your phone. An easy way to test if this is the case is by trying to connect another device to the WiFi network you're trying to access. If something else can connect but your cell phone can't, it's most likely a problem with your Pixel.

Another good way to test your Pixel's connectivity is to go to another public WiFi source, like a coffee shop or library. If your Pixel can connect to other WiFi networks, that means your router's probably malfunctioning. If your phone's not connecting to any source of internet, you can be pretty sure your Pixel's the problem.

Turn Your Google Pixel's WiFi Off And Back On

Sometimes, briefly disabling a cell phone's ability to connect to WiFi can reset its connection with wireless networks. Giving your Pixel a chance to form a fresh connection with your WiFi network is an easy way to resolve a lot of issues involving wireless services.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Networks & Internet.
  3. Tap Wi-Fi.
  4. Turn Wi-Fi off.
  5. Wait a few seconds.
  6. Turn Wi-Fi back on.
  7. Attempt to connect with your desired Wi-Fi network again.

Restarting your Google Pixel is a great way to fix minor software issues. When you restart your phone, all of the programs that are running shut down naturally and get a fresh start when you turn your phone back on.

Restart Your WiFi Router

Sometimes, briefly shutting down your WiFi router can resolve connectivity issues for other devices. One of the most common instructions internet providers will give their customers experiencing a problem with their WiFi is to briefly unplug their router from a power source.

This is one of the easiest and most effective solutions out there for resolving errors involving WiFi networks!

  1. Find your WiFi router.
  2. Unplug your router from the wall.
  3. Wait 30 seconds.
  4. Plug your router back in.
  5. Try reconnecting.

Delete And Rejoin The WiFi Network From Your Pixel

It's possible that the steps you need to take to join the WiFi network you're trying to access have changed. One common example of this occurrence is the network's password changing.

Erasing the WiFi network you'd like to access and then manually reconnecting to it gives your Pixel the opportunity to update the process it undergoes whenever it accesses this WiFi source.

To Delete A WiFi Network:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap Networks & Internet.
  3. Tap WiFi.
  4. Tap Saved Networks at the bottom of your display.
  5. Select the network you'd like to delete.
  6. Tap Erase.

To Reconnect To A WiFi Network:

  1. Return to the WiFi page in Settings.
  2. Tap Add Network.
  3. Enter the network's name and password.

Resetting Network Settings can resolve a lot of different errors involving cellular data or WiFi. Completing this step just might get rid of the malfunction your Pixel's currently experiencing.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Advanced.
  3. Tap Reset Options.
  4. Select WiFi, Mobile, and Bluetooth.
  5. Confirm the reset by tapping Reset Settings.
  6. Enter your PIN or security code if you use one to unlock your Pixel.
