iPhone 12 vs. iPhone 12 Mini: Which One Should You Buy?

Two of the most exciting products announced at the most recent Apple Event were the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini. Both of these cell phones include some serious innovations in cell phone technology, but it's difficult to tell exactly how they differ at first glance. In this article, I'll explain the differences between the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini, and help you decide which one you should buy.

How Are The iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini Similar?

Both the iPhone 12 and 12 Mini support 5G. Both phones have the A14 chip and feature MagSafe, a built-in magnet that will improve your wireless charging experience, among many other things.

The displays on both of these models are comprised of Apple's Ceramic Shield glass, making them more durable than their predecessors. On a similar note, both of these devices have high-resolution, Super Retina XDR displays.

Another similarity these devices share are their storage capacities. Both the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini come in 64, 128, 256 GB variants. If you're concerned about appearance, each of these phones allows you to choose from five finish options to get the exact color phone you want.

So, What's The Difference?

All of these specification parallels beg the question: what's the difference between the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini? Without further ado, it's time to make that distinction.

The Size

The primary difference between each of these devices are their sizes. While each of these phones comes with a notable reduction in volume and weight compared to the previous iPhone 11 line, their respective footprints have an even more significant difference.

The iPhone 12 features a 6.1 inch display, the exact same measurement as the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro. The iPhone 12 Mini, however, comes with a more compact 5.4 inch display. While it may appear smaller, the iPhone 12 Mini packs every bit as much punch as its larger counterpart.

The Price

Another difference between the iPhone 12 and 12 Mini are their prices. The most basic iPhone 12 model starts at $799, while the iPhone 12 Mini starts at $699. Both of these cell phones are eligible for contracted payment plans, as well as discounts if you trade in eligible older iPhones when you purchase them.

The Release Date

The final distinction between these two phones are their release dates. Apple fans can pre-order the iPhone 12 as early as this Friday, October 16. However, if you're dead set on purchasing the iPhone 12 Mini, you'll need to wait a little longer. The smaller iPhone 12 model will not be available to purchase until November 6.

The Choice Is Yours!

This has been a brief comparison and summary of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini. Whichever device you opt for, you can be sure to get an unparalleled cell phone experience thanks to another round of Apple's technological innovations.
