Trying to pick up reading, or keeping up with the hobby, can be difficult when libraries aren't open. iPhone library apps are a great solution! In this article, I'll tell you about library apps for your iPhone that'll allow you to download endless hours of audiobooks, eBooks, TV shows, movies, and more.
cloudLibrary
cloudLibrary gives you access to a catalogue of 40,000 eBooks and audiobooks. All you need to do is download the app and add your library card!
Start by going to the cloudLibrary website to see if your local library is affiliated. If it is, head to the App Store and type in “cloudLibrary” to the search box. Tap the install button to the right of the app.
Once your library card has been added, you'll have access to to everything in cloudLibrary's catalogue. You check out items just like you would at your local library. Only one person has access to the item at one time but, cloudLibrary makes it easy to place books on hold, extend rentals, or return the item early.
Checking out books from cloudLibrary downloads them straight to your iPhone, allowing you to read the eBook or listen to the audiobook directly on your device.
Libby, By Overdrive
Libby is an iPhone library app created by Overdrive that gives you access to 10,000 e-books and audiobooks. Like cloudLibrary, Libby connects to your local library, so you don't need to create a new account. Just enter your library card number, verify your information, and start downloading content!
Some libraries also allow you to make a library card through Libby, which is ideal if you don't already have one.
Libby is also equipped with a speed adjuster and sleep timer to further personalize your audiobook experience. For eBooks, you can adjust the font size, lighting, and create bookmarks, highlights, or notes directly within app. Libby also connects to your speakers through Apple CarPlay or Bluetooth, so you can listen to your audiobooks on-the-go.
Your progress is synced across any devices that have Libby installed. This way, you can listen to an audiobook on your iPhone and pick it up right where you left off on your iPad.
