You want to turn off iPhone voicemail, but you're not sure how. Unlike other features, voicemail doesn't have an off switch. In this article, I'll show you how to turn off voicemail on your iPhone!
How Do I Turn Off iPhone Voicemail?
Voicemail is often a free feature included with most cell phone plans, so most carriers require that you contact them directly to have it turned off. Below, I'll walk you through how to turn off voicemail on your iPhone if you have a plan from one of the four major US wireless carriers.
Before Calling…
It's a good idea to have your account information handy before calling your carrier's customer service line. Having your information, such as your carrier account number, ready before you call will usually speed up the process.
AT&T
If your carrier is AT&T, you can reach customer service by dialing 611 on the iPhone keypad. Tap the green phone button to make the call. Once you're on the phone with a customer service representative, ask them to turn off voicemail on your iPhone. The representative can also help you delete your voicemail inbox.
You can also call 1-(800)-331-0500 to get in touch with AT&T customer service.
T-Mobile
T-Mobile customers will have to have their account level services adjusted in order to turn off iPhone voicemail. Call 1-800-937-8997 and ask the representative to turn off voicemail for your account.
Verizon
Verizon has several different types of voicemail, including Premium Visual Voice Mail, which costs $2.99 / month.
You can downgrade to free voicemail or turn if off completely by dialing *611 from a Verizon phone or 1-800-922-0204 on any phone. Once you've reach a customer service professional, ask them to remove voicemail from your line.
